City of Danville and Pittsylvania Counties Dan River at Paces affecting Halifax County Dan River at South Boston affecting Halifax County Clinch River Near Richlands affecting Tazewell County North Fork of the Holston River Near Saltville affecting Smyth County Two to four inches of rain with locally higher amounts have fallen across southwest Virginia, northwest North Carolina and southeast West Virginia. Runoff from this rainfall was producing significant rises on area rivers. The National Weather Service in Blacksburg Va has issued a

* until further notice

* At 4:00 PM Thursday the stage was 14.3 feet and rising.

* Flood Stage is 10.0 feet.

* Moderate flooding is occurring.

* Impact...at 12.0 feet...The water treatment plant is impacted and several low-lying roads downstream near Raven are affected.

* Flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 14.6 feet on November 19 2003.

* AFFECTED AREAS: TAZEWELL, VA
