INCIDENT: PC 664/211 - Attempted Robbery

LOCATION: 8700 Baseline Road

SUSPECT: Steven Simmons, 47-years-old of Upland

BAIL AMOUNT: $50,000

Summary:
On Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 11:33 am, deputies responded to an attempted robbery that had just occurred at the Bank of America on Baseline Road. An employee at the bank reported the suspect approached her window and handed her a note demanding money. The employee was able to alert the manager and the suspect fled the bank. Evidence from the scene was collected and processed which led to the identity of the suspect. He was identified as Steven Simmons and upon further investigation, detectives learned he was a possible suspect in two other bank robberies in Ontario and Pasadena.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Simmons and worked collectively with surrounding agencies to acquire leads to Simmons current whereabouts.

On Friday, January 31, 2020, detectives learned Simmons was at a hotel in the City of Long Beach. Detectives and deputies from the Multi-Enforcement Team responded to the hotel where Simmons was seen leaving the area. Simmons was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center, where he remains in custody.
