ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
 

Murals/Public Art Installations are approved!  A webpage has been added to our website www.cityofmchenry.org/murals that contains the application and guidelines for business or property owners wanting to commission a mural and/or artists available to provide design ideas.  A public art committee has been formed that will review each application to be sure it meets the policy guidelines formed to respect individual creativity, rules established in our sign guidelines, and maintenance and upkeep of the designs.  

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

3609-3611 Elm, former carpet store across from the firehouse

A demolition permit was issued for 3609-3611 Elm, demolition should begin within the next few weeks.

 

Certificates of occupancy have been issued to the following:

Lily’s Fitness 4125 W Orleans St

1630 Conway Circle and 3718 Doherty Lane, single family homes in the Oaks at Irish Prairie subdivision.

 

1401 Riverside Drive

Staff met with the owners of the old Town Club along with some local historians this week, the meeting revolved around the history of the building and how the new owners can use the history of the building in their design of the new restaurant.  Design work is currently underway for the property.  
 

Public Works
 
Projects—
  • Pearl Street Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Improvements – The contractor has provided temporary backfill adjacent to the sidewalk for safety reasons.  Due to weather, that area will be fully restored in the Spring. All street lights have been installed.  ComEd has made the final hook-up and the lights are now operational. The project is 99% complete with only some minor restoration to be completed.
  • Curran Road S-curve Improvements – AT&T has completed their cable relocation/abandonment. Guardrail installation has been completed at the two curves.
 
Street Division—
  • Crews installed new crosswalk lights on Lincoln Road by McHenry Middle School.
  • Crews responded to a minor snow event on February 6th.
 
Police
 
Time Period: Thursday 01/30/2020 thru Wednesday 02/05/2020
 
During this time period the McHenry Police Department:
  • Handled 551 calls for service
  • Investigated 17 Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Conducted 182 Traffic Stops
  • Conducted over 158 Business Checks and Foot Patrols
  • Handled 4 calls for service involving Domestic Disputes
  • Handled 7 calls for service involving crisis intervention
  • Arrested 6 individuals on State criminal charges
 
Personnel:
 
The following personnel have recently completed the respective years of service with the McHenry Police Department:
  • Telecommunicator Amy McKendry – 3 years
 
Training:
 
Officers Pena and Carey attended 40- Hour Crisis Intervention Team training hosted by the Streamwood Police Department.  This training provides officers with education about mental illness, and provides skills and tools for effectively and safely interacting with someone who is experiencing a crisis.
 
Lead Telecommunicators Leibach and Barrows attended AQUA Quality Assurance training held at SEECOM (Southeast Emergency Communications) in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
