Flood Warning until 08:30AM Sunday

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in North Carolina... South Fork Catawba River At Lowell affecting Gaston County. .Runoff from previous heavy rain will result in the river remaining above flood stage but will fall through the weekend. The Flood Warning continues for The South Fork Catawba River At Lowell.

* until Sunday morning.

* At 9:30 AM Friday the stage was 16.0 feet. The river is cresting.

* Minor Flood Stage is 10.0 feet.

* Moderate flood stage is 13.0 feet.

* Major flood stage is 15.5 feet.

* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.

* FORECAST: The river is cresting and then will fall to below Minor Flood Stage by Saturday evening.

* Impact...At 15.5 feet...Major Flood Stage. South Fork Catawba River floodwaters may be inundating the Cramerton Fire Department, Cramerton Drug Store, South Fork Masonic Lodge, and adjacent homes and businesses along 8th Ave. and N. Main St. Floodwaters may be approaching the Cramerton Police Department. Flooding of Duharts Creek may be impacting adjacent sections of Mayflower Rd., and Cramer Mountain Rd. may be inundated with several inches of water. Impacts may be similar to those associated with flooding on March 21st, 2003.

* Impact...At 14.0 feet...Moderate Flooding continues. The South Fork Catawba may be flooding several roads in the Cramerton area, including Cramer Mountain Rd. along Duharts Creek, Riverside Dr., 8th Ave. near the South Fork Masonic Lodge and adjacent park, and Greenwood Pl. near Lakewood Park. The Cramerton Fire Department, Cramerton Drug Company, and the South Fork Masonic Lodge may begin to flood. Floodwaters may be approaching the Cramerton Police Department parking lot.

* Impact...At 11.5 feet...Minor Flooding continues. The South Fork Catawba River is inundating Riverside Dr. between 5th and 6th Streets in Cramerton with several inches of water. The pumping station at Pharr Yarns in McAdenville may begin to flood. Floodwaters may be approaching Lakeview Dr.

* Impact...At 11.0 feet...Minor Flood Stage continues. The South Fork Catawba River is flooding Riverside Dr. between 5th and 6th Streets in Cramerton. Floodwaters may also approach homes along Catawba Run Rd., near the streamgauge. Hoyle Creek floodwaters, possibly due to backwater effects from the South Fork Catawba River, may begin to impact the Old Willis School Road bridge near Sandcastle Rd.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GASTON, NC
