...SNOW SHOWERS TO AFFECT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN THE NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS ALONG THE TENNESSEE BORDER THIS AFTERNOON AND SATURDAY... ...SNOW SHOWERS WILL ALSO AFFECT NORTHEAST GEORGIA SATURDAY MORNING... .Deep cold air remains across the Carolinas and northeast Georgia through Saturday. Moist, westerly flow will continue to produce snow showers along the higher elevations this afternoon, especially along the immediate Tennessee border, before a lull in activity begins this evening. Another upper level trough will cross the area Saturday morning and combine with moisture moving northeast out of the Gulf of the Mexico. This system will develop snow showers across northeast Georgia beginning around daybreak and tapering off by noon. Snow showers will also develop across the higher elevations of the southern and central North Carolina mountains through the day Saturday. The combination of accumulating light snow, wet roads, and temperatures falling below the freezing mark will create slippery conditions.
