SUSPECT: Lisa Iorio,(aka; Lisa Spagna), 50-year-old resident of Riverside

VICTIM: City of Highland

SUMMARY: On January 28, 2020, the Highland City Finance Director was alerted of potential fraud to the city’s financial account when unauthorized charges were noticed. The attempted unauthorized charges included $2,863.27 to Target, $3,000.00 to Sears, and $414.99 to Sprint Wireless. Highland Station Detective Ron Browne initiated an investigation and identified 50-year-old Lisa Iorio of Riverside as a potential suspect.

During the service of a search warrant, investigators recovered evidence linking Iorio to the crime. The investigation revealed Iorio was out on bail after being arrested by the Riverside Police Department on October 16, 2019, for possession of a controlled substance for sales and child endangerment. Iorio informed detectives she is currently on unpaid administrative leave from her teaching position with Fontana Unified School District.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Iorio was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC 484g, fraudulent account use and PC 12022.1, committing a felony while out on bail with a bail set at $100,000. She is scheduled to be arraigned in the Superior Court of San Bernardino on February 10, 2020. The investigation is continuing to locate possible victims of fraud and/or identity theft.
