SUMMARY: Detectives with the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station had been working with patrol to solve a series of unusual burglaries. On at least 3 occasions, an unknown suspect(s) rented Airbnb properties under a fake name with a fraudulent American Express Credit card. All bookings were made through a property management website. The suspect(s) entered the residences and stole property including televisions, power tools and home décor.
One of the properties was equipped with surveillance cameras. Deputy Pena collected surveillance footage from that location and was able to develop suspect leads which included vehicle plates and suspect images. Detectives utilized that information and identified Hernan Hernandez as the suspect. Hernandez is on active parole for burglary out of Riverside County.
On February 12, 2020, Hernandez was detained by his parole agent in Palm Springs. Detective Trujillo responded to the parole office and searched Hernandez’ car. Several items taken during burglaries in the mountain communities were recovered. Hernandez was booked into the Riverside County Jail.
