Crime Alert Bulletin

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 02-03-20 at approximately 7:16 a.m., several officers were dispatched to the area of 88 Hillside Boulevard on a report of a man swinging a sword in front of the apartment complex. Officer Ciucci found the subject matching the description on Alp Street. Officer Ciucci stated that the subject was actively resisting the officer. Officer Arguelles spoke with the reporting party who said her parents were walking to their vehicle and saw the subject holding a pipe in each hand and walked around them as they were getting into their vehicle. Once inside their vehicle, they said the subject walked approximately five feet in front of their vehicle. The reporting party’s parents said they saw the subject repeatedly hitting/pounding the pipes on the ground while he was yelling at them. After a brief investigation, Officer Gregorio arrested the 40-year old transient subject for brandishing, and obstructing/resisting officers.

On Tuesday, 02-04-20 at 3:00 p.m., Officer Aquila and Officer Leyson were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Niantic Avenue on a report of three teenagers who ripped a purse off the reporting party’s 73-year old mother while she was in her garage. The subjects fled in a white Volvo traveling towards Mission Street from Westlake Avenue. This case is referred to our investigators.

On Tuesday, 02-04-20 at 7:29 p.m., a Daly City resident saw a juvenile subject breaking into his wife’s vehicle that was parked on the 500 block of Clarinada Avenue. The resident tried to chase the suspect, but the subject fled. Officer Martin found a subject matching the description at the bus stop at Serramonte Shopping Center. Officer Martin arrested the subject, a 15-year old South San Francisco resident, and released him to the custody of his mother.

On Wednesday, 02-05-20 at 3:24 p.m., Officer Moody was dispatched to the Safeway store on a report of a male subject who attempted to steal items from a woman’s purse but was confronted and fled the scene. Officer Moody found a subject matching the description given by the dispatchers, and he tried to contact the subject. The subject was pushing a stroller and walked away from the officer initially and then faced the officer in an aggressive stance. The subject had food items he did not purchase from the store. Officer Moody placed the 52-year old San Francisco resident under arrest for resisting arrest, shoplifting and possession of stolen property.

On Friday, 02-07-20 at 7:43 p.m., a 50-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment after he was involved in a collision with another moving vehicle near the intersection of Brunswick Street and Wellington Avenue. Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
