Deputies arrest Erik Wright and recover several items of stolen property

LOCATION: Lotus Avenue and 10th Street, Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Erik Wright, age 26 a transient from Oklahoma
VICTIM(S): Adult male, a resident of Beaumont
SUMMARY: Deputies from the Yucaipa Police Station responded to a report from a concerned community member who observed a suspicious vehicle, a Dodge Van loaded with property, parked near Lotus Avenue and 10th Street.
Deputies located the vehicle and a records check showed the vehicle was stolen out of the Beaumont area. The driver of the vehicle, Erik Wright, was detained without incident. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located suspected controlled substances and drug paraphernalia and, through investigation, determined Wright was using both fentanyl and heroin. A stolen purse belonging to a Beaumont resident who lived near where the vehicle was stolen was recovered, as were numerous Makita, Ryobi and Milwaukee tools, a Thule bike hitch, none of which belonged to the stolen vehicle victim. Stolen mail from the Beaumont, Redlands and Venice area was also located inside the vehicle.
Wright was booked at Central Detention Center for possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Pictures of the recovered property are being released for the public to view. A photograph of Wright is also being released.
The investigation is ongoing. Deputies are asking anyone who witnessed the vehicle theft, purchased any property from Wright or knows any information regarding recently stolen tools, or mail in Beaumont, Redlands and Venice are to contact Deputy C.
