Calls for service

In 2019, the City of Hayward’s 9-1-1 Communications Center handled over 308,500 calls for service! On a daily basis our Call Takers handle over 850 calls for police, fire, and medical services. They answer calls from people who need help from police, firefighters, emergency services, or a combination of the three.

These hard working men and women take emergency, non-emergency , and alarm system calls. They must stay calm while collecting vital information from callers to determine the severity of a situation and the location of those who need help. They then pass that along to first-responders. And, they often must instruct those in distress on what to do before responders arrive.

Thank you to our dispatchers! You are some of the hardest working people in our profession.

If you have an emergency call or text 9-1-1. If you need to contact our non-emergency dispatch dial 510-293-7000.
