Flood Warning until 04:30PM

At 740 AM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated slow moving thunderstorms with heavy rainfall across the warned area. One to two inches of rain have fallen across the warned area, with some localized locations receiving in excess of two inches. The Girard, KS cooperative observer had measured 2.2 inches of rainfall through 700 AM CST. Additional showers and thunderstorms this morning are expected to exacerbate the flooding threat. Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially susceptible to the dangers of flooding. Locations in the warning include... Joplin... Pittsburg... Carthage... Neosho... Webb City... Prairie State Park... Carl Junction... Lamar... Baxter Springs... Frontenac... Columbus... Galena... Girard... Oronogo... Seneca... Granby... Carterville... Duquesne... Arma... Sarcoxie... This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water crossings... North Main and Murphy Boulevard In Joplin... Business Highway 60 just north of Neosho... Highway 37 at The Spring River southwest of Avilla... Route K at Dry Wood Creek east of Arcadia... and Route JJ at Center Creek southeast of Carl Junction. Additional rainfall amounts in excess of one half inch are possible in the warned area.
