Marcus Jones was arrested for weapons violations and resisting arrest

SUSPECT(S): Marcus Jones, age 27 a transient
SUMMARY:
On Monday, February 24, 2020, deputies responded to the 34400 block of Yucaipa Boulevard to assist a uniformed security officer with the suspect, Marcus Jones. Jones was found loitering behind businesses near 4th Street. and Yucaipa Blvd and refused to leave the area when he was asked to do so.
Jones was uncooperative with deputies as well and again refused to leave the business complex. When they attempted to detain Jones, he ran from deputies. He was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and taken into custody without incident.
During a search, Jones was found to be in possession of a concealed, fixed blade knife. Jones remained uncooperative after his arrest and provided false identifying information to deputies and had to be identified through fingerprints. Once identified, it was found Jones is a transient with ties to Virginia and Los Angeles, but no known ties to Yucaipa. Jones was recently jailed in Los Angeles County for battering a police officer and was released from custody less than 10 days before this arrest.
Jones was booked into the West Valley Detention Center on multiple felony charges with bail set at $100,000.
