...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THROUGH EARLY THIS AFTERNOON... .Strong winds and low RH values behind the cold front that moved through overnight have resulted in critical fire weather conditions over southern portions of the area. Wind speeds will gradually diminish this afternoon to lower the risk, but elevated fire conditions will continue through late afternoon. The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect until 2 PM CST this afternoon.

* AFFECTED AREA...Webb...Duval...Jim Wells...Inland Kleberg... Inland Nueces...Inland San Patricio...Coastal Kleberg... Coastal Nueces...Coastal San Patricio.

* TIMING...Through 2PM this afternoon

* WIND...North-northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 35-40 mph.

* HUMIDITY...20 to 30 percent inland, 30 to 35 percent near the coast.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* AFFECTED AREAS: COASTAL SAN PATRICIO ... INLAND KLEBERG ... JIM WELLS ... COASTAL KLEBERG ... COASTAL NUECES ... INLAND NUECES ... WEBB ... DUVAL ... INLAND SAN PATRICIO

A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
