The Shorewood Police Department would like to advise the community of two recently reported situations.

On Monday, February 24, 2020, Atwater School reported a suspicious vehicle that was observed in the area of the school. School staff reported a vehicle driving slowly on Murray Ave during lunch recess. The staff noted the make, model and license plate of the vehicle. This information has been provided to our agency. We have identified the owner of the vehicle and continue to follow up on this incident.

On February 25, 2020, staff at St. Robert informed us of two vehicles that students observed in the area of the school during their recess time. The students believed the vehicles were suspicious and they informed a staff member of their observations. The staff member was outside with the students at that time and immediately observed the vehicles in the area, but did not observe any suspicious behavior on the part of the persons associated with the respective vehicles. Based on the observations of the school employee we do not feel that this was anything suspicious and not a police matter.

Based on our investigation of these incidents, we believe there is no threat to student safety. We do encourage parents to remind their children to report anything they observe that they believe is suspicious in nature to a trusted adult.
