Following a traffic stop, 2 suspects were arrested for various charges to include possession of drugs for sales

INCIDENT: Possession of Drugs for Sales
LOCATION: Yucaipa Blvd / 3rd St., Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Samuel Ortiz, age 35 a resident of Banning
Nicholas Patterson, age 36 a resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Thursday, February 27th at 2:10 a.m., a deputy from the Yucaipa Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for vehicle code violations. The occupants of the vehicle were identified to be Samuel Ortiz and Nicholas Patterson. Patterson was found to be on felony probation for a prior weapons violation. During a search, Patterson was found to be in possession of baggies of heroin, methamphetamine and oxycodone pills. During a search of the vehicle, a digital scale, packaging materials, consistent with drug sales and, ammunition was located inside the vehicle.
Ortiz, a convicted felon, was booked into Central Detention Center for unlawfully possessing ammunition. Patterson was booked for possessing drugs for sales and a probation violation and is being held without bail.
