Public Works
 
Projects—
  • 2020 Road Program – Staff will design and manage this year’s Road Program in-house.  IDOT has approved the plans and specifications.  Work will include removal of the existing asphalt and replacement with 4.0” of new asphalt.  The following streets will be included: Amberwood, Dorchester, Pebble Creek, Westminster, Geneva, and Brighton, all within the Pebble Creek Subdivision.  The project was released for bid on February 27th and bids are due March 12th at 10:00AM. Bids will need to be reviewed by the Public Works Committee prior to final approval by City Council.  The project is expected to start early May.     
 
Street Division—
  • Crews responded to a 3/4” snow event on February 26th, using over 80 tons of salt on the roadways. 
 
Utility Division—
  • On February 24th, personnel repaired a water main at 4615 Sussex Drive. There was no disruption in service.
  • On February 21st, personnel repaired a catch basin and storm sewer on Oak Drive and Industrial Drive.
 
Police
 
Time Period: Thursday 02/20/2020 thru Wednesday 02/26/2020
 
During this time period the McHenry Police Department:
  • Handled 619 calls for service
  • Investigated 19 Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Conducted 256 Traffic Stops
  • Conducted over 132 Business Checks and Foot Patrols
  • Handled 10 calls for service involving Domestic Disputes
  • Handled 5 calls for service involving crisis intervention
  • Arrested 13 individuals on State criminal charges
 
Personnel:
 
The following personnel have recently completed the respective years of service with the McHenry Police Department:
  • Telecommunicator Kathleen Gallagher – 5 Years
 
Training:
 
Sergeant Aalto attended a Driving Under the Influence update hosted in Antioch, Illinois.
 
Commander Sciame, Sergeant K. Ducak, Sergeant Clesen and School Resource Officer Shafer attended a training on Child Abduction Investigations hosted by the Skokie Police Department.
 
Officer Fisher and Officer Zumwalt attended rail safety training hosted by the Canadian National Railroad in Homewood, Illinois.
 
Public Relations:
 
Sergeant Aalto participated in a focus group for traffic safety and traffic crash investigations in Evanston, Illinois.
 
Staff from the police department participated in the McHenry Business Expo at McHenry Community High School - West Campus.  The police staff members provided child fingerprinting kits to families attending the event.
 
On Saturday, February 22nd, 2020, members of the McHenry Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office participated in a Car Seat Safety Check event at the Gary Lang Auto Group.
 
The young ladies of Girl Scout Troup 1960 were given a tour of the police department facilities and a squad car.
 
 
Administration/City Clerk
 
The McHenry County Clerk has announced early voting times for the 2020 General Primary Election at the McHenry City Hall location.  If coming to vote early, please use the Court (Council Chamber) entrance.

New multi-family dwellings 4949-4969 and 4925-4945 Argyle Lane received certificates of occupancy

Demolition of this building has begun, contractors are working on removing interior fixtures and coverings.

 

1401 Riverside Drive, Town Club

Staff continues to work with the developers of this site to preserve as much of the original building and allow the new design of the building to incorporate the history of this building. The building will not be demolished however due to the current condition of the major renovations are required.

 

Starbucks

Starbucks has turned the project over to their construction team, staff anticipates permits for the reconstruction of the building to be submitted soon.
