Sgt James Evans arrests Chad Tichenor following a pursuit; Tichenor was in a stolen vehicle with stolen property

DATE/TIME: March 4, 2020 / 9:13 p.m.

INCIDENT: Felony Pursuit

LOCATION: State Highway 18

SUSPECT(S): Chad Tichenor, 23 years from Victorville

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: On March 4, 2020, at approximately 9:13 p.m., Sergeant James Evans observed a suspicious speeding pickup truck on Highway 18 in the Town of Apple Valley. The truck matched the description of a recently stolen vehicle. The vehicle was stolen along with expensive tools and equipment worth over $ 10,000.00. Evans verified the plate matched the stolen vehicle and coordinated with back up units. The stolen vehicle turned into Walmart but then accelerated back out and west on State Highway 18, failing to yield to the patrol units. The pursuit continued west on Highway 18 and into the City of Victorville. At 4th and B. Street, the suspect jumped from the rolling vehicle and fled on foot. With the help of Sheriff’s Aviation and Victorville Deputies, Chad Tichenor was apprehended as he was attempting to enter a residence. Luckily, the stolen truck merely rolled into a street sign and came to rest. Most of the property was recovered inside the vehicle. The truck and property were released to the victim at the scene.

Tichenor was booked at High Desert Detention Center for Grand Theft Auto, Felony Failure to Yield, and Parole Violation. No one was injured during the incident.
