INCIDENT: Joint Traffic Enforcement Operation
LOCATION: City of Hesperia and City of Victorville
SUMMARY: On February 26, 2020, deputies from multiple stations in the High Desert, including Victorville Police Department, Apple Valley Police Department, Hesperia Police Department and Victor Valley Station conducted a Traffic Enforcement Operation focused on reducing traffic collisions.
Deputies concentrated on several roadways in Hesperia and Victorville, identified as problem areas. During the operation, deputies conducted a total of 130 vehicle stops. As a result, 80 citations were issued to drivers in Hesperia and 45 citations issued to drivers in Victorville, for a total of 125. The citation charges included exceeding the speed limit, failing to stop at stop signs, distracted driving, unsafe driving practices and driving while unlicensed or license suspended. Two of the drivers stopped and issued citations had their vehicles towed.
Similar operations will be continuing throughout the High Desert in the coming weeks, targeting violations recognized as primary collision factors. Our local law enforcement and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as a whole, urge drivers to follow the laws of the road to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of others they share the road with.
