Deputies arrest five suspects for Conspiracy, Burglary, and Possession of Stolen Property

DATE/TIME: March 5, 2020 / 7:08 P.M.

INCIDENT: Conspiracy, Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property

LOCATION: 14000 block of Willow Wood Lane, Chino Hills

SUSPECT(S): Demetrius Batchelor, age 19, resident of Perris
Josiah Kelley, age 19, resident of Perris
Khaliq Thomas, age 19, resident of Perris
Semaj Lopez, age 19, resident of Lancaster
Darnell Brown, age 19, resident of Lancaster

VICTIM(S): Multiple resident of Chino Hills and surrounding areas


SUMMARY: On Thursday, March 5, 2020, at 7:08 p.m., the Chino Hills Police Department responded to an audible burglary alarm in the 2000 block of Deer Haven Drive. Upon arrival, deputies found a rear sliding glass door broken and determined five suspects attempted to break in to the residence but were not successful. At 7:15 p.m., deputies responded to another audible burglary alarm in the 14000 block of Willow Wood Lane. Upon arrival, deputies found a rear sliding door broken and determined property was stolen from inside. Deputies developed leads and determined there were five suspects in the vehicle.

On Friday, March 6, 2020, at 12:57 a.m., deputies conducted extra patrol and found the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the Hotel Chino Hills. Detectives responded, authored a search warrant, and deputies found stolen property, burglary tools, and developed other information which linked all five suspects to the burglaries. Additionally, the Chino Hills community, and several other cities, have had a significant number of residential burglaries. Detectives believe the suspects listed above may be related to other burglaries and are continuing their investigation. All five were booked into West Valley Detention Center for conspiracy and burglary.
