Corona Virus
Last evening, representatives of the Warren County Health Dept. and Warren County Freeholders briefed the Knowlton Township Committee on the latest steps to prepare for and respond to COVID-19, also known as novel coronavirus. The County Health Department is assisting with testing and tracking those who have had possible contact with those affected and they are providing recommendations to schools and area organizations to help guide their decisions as the situation unfolds. As of last evening, there were no confirmed cases in Warren County. They stressed the following:
- Anyone sick with respiratory symptoms should call his or her doctor first, before visiting the doctor’s office or emergency room, for further direction. Currently the state is providing testing for symptomatic patients who are known to have had contact with a confirmed case or who require hospitalization.
- Call the NJ Department of Health hotline at 1-800-222-1222 with any general questions about COVID-19. Additional information may be found on the CDC’s Coronavirus website at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/ or from NJ Department of Health at www.nj.gov/health/cd/topics/ncov.shtml
All residents should continue to use common sense measures:
• Stay home when you are sick
• Avoid close contact with those who are sick
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
• Cover your coughs or sneezes with a tissue or into your sleeve
• Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
• If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
