2019 UCR Media Release
Nature of Incident: | Sheriff Releases 2019 Crime Statistics | ||
Narrative: | |||
Sheriff Bill Ayub has released the 2019 crime statistics for all areas served by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. The report shows a 10% overall reduction in Part I crimes, as defined by the Uniform Crime Reporting Statistics of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This is part of an ongoing trend of crime reduction that has occurred over the past 25 years. While some crime categories fluctuate from year to year, the overall trend has been a declining crime rate since the mid 1990’s. “These statistics are just one of the measuring sticks for our progress in fighting crime,” said Sheriff Bill Ayub. “They reflect our collaboration with the communities we serve to ensure a safe environment for all of our residents. Above all else, we value those relationships, and without them, we could not accomplish our goal to reduce crime.” The sheriff’s office is committed to providing the highest level of service to the community. We do not compromise on staffing, and we continue to enforce the laws with a focus on identifying and targeting the prolific offenders who are responsible for a disproportionate amount of criminal activity. Each geographical area in Ventura County is unique, and crime trends vary from city to city. For questions regarding each city’s reported crimes, the following people can be reached directly: Commander Eric Tennessen - Camarillo (805) 797-7102 Commander James Fryhoff – Thousand Oaks (805) 797-6378 Captain Victor Fazio – Moorpark (805) 856-8793 Captain Garo Kuredjian – Fillmore (805) 797-6322 Captain Jose Rivera – Ojai (805) 797-6341 |
