Wayne County Health Department Recommends the following:
WCHD continues to stress to the public the actions they should be taking now to be prepared for the potential of COVID19, seasonal flu and other respiratory diseases as follows:
Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water. Use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content whenever handwashing is unavailable;
Cover your coughs and sneezes, by placing your face into your elbow or a tissue. Dispose of the tissue directly into the trash;
Stay home when you are ill. Do not risk spreading your respiratory issues to friends, co-workers or classmates.
Practice Social Distancing. Older adults and people who have serious chronic medical conditions are at higher risk of getting very sick from this illness. If you are at a higher risk you should:
- Keep away from others who are sick, limit close contact and wash your hands often when you go out in public.
- Avoid crowds as much as possible.
- Avoid cruise travel and non-essential air travel.
- During a COVID-19 outbreak in your community, stay home as much as possible to further reduce your risk of being exposed.
Practicing the simple actions above can significantly reduce the transmission of all respiratory diseases.
