Update: Arrest for Murder from March 2, 2020 shooting incident. Today, Mrs. Dorothy Smith, a 76 year old resident of the Early Branch community was arrested for the murder of her husband, Mr. James Smith. Deputies responded to the couple's house on March 2, 2020 just after 6:00pm and found Mr. Smith deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. After a thorough investigation, Detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants for Dorothy Smith for the charges of Murder and the Possession of Weapon During A Violent Crime. Mrs. Dorothy Smith was placed into the custody of the Jasper County Detention Center. "I am grateful to my Deputies and Detectives for working hard to sort through the evidence and bring justice fairly. Pray for the family involved and continue to pray for our Jasper County".
