TRAFFIC ADVISORY FROM ROCKLAND ELECTRIC CO.
Electric cable installation work will be taking place on Broad St. To establish a safe area for utility work, on March 16, Rockland Electric Company will be blocking off through traffic on the north end of Broad St. at the Broadway intersection in Norwood for the entire workday. Through traffic will be restored at the end of each work day. The work is estimated to be completed by March 19.
To manage traffic, the Norwood Police Department will have two officers onsite to work with Rockland Electric.
Both lanes of Broad St will be open from Blanch Ave.
A “local traffic only” and/or “no thru traffic” sign will be placed at the intersection of Broad St./Blanch Ave.
Broad St will be coned off on the north side of the driveway to the dog kennel (formally Pine Brook Kennels, now Doggie Shrink).
The day-long traffic restriction is being put in place to permit utility workers to safely install underground electric cable into the manhole on the north end of Broad St, which is about 50 feet from the intersection with Broadway. The cable reel, and the trailer it’s mounted on, are about 14 feet wide, too wide to provide unobstructed access to that section of Broad St.
The cable from the Broad St. manhole is being pulled underground to a manhole on Blanch Ave. That manhole is located on the sidewalk and presents no vehicular traffic disruption.
