*NATIONAL EMERGENCY* As of 5:00 PM today, all non-essential Borough offices will be closed for a period of 14 days.
Dear Cresskill Resident,
Bergen County Executive James Tedesco has elected to close all Bergen County public schools in all 75 school districts in Bergen County as of 3:00PM today, Friday, March 13. We in Cresskill, shall take similar action and following the recommendations from our federal and state partners to control the spread of this virus and we have determined it is in the best interest of all residents that the following closures occur:
1) All Cresskill Public Schools shall be closed as of 3:00PM today, Friday, March 13 consistent with County Executive Tedesco’s directive and our school district shall transition from on-site learning to off-site learning. The administrative staff in our district has been and is prepared to implement this style of learning. This closure shall be for a period of 14 days during which time the Board of Education, Superintendent Michael Burke and our Borough’s Task Force shall facilitate additional courses of action if needed.
2) The Cresskill Recreation Department and the Cresskill Community Center, shall be closed as of 5:00PM today, March 13 for a period of 14 days. Therefore, no one will be allowed to enter the Community Center building and all events, programs and the like are cancelled during this period. This closure also includes our public parks, all sport events, group activities and gatherings at any of our public parks is prohibited during this period. In addition, this also includes tennis, basketball courts, sports fields and children’s playground equipment.
3) The Cresskill Library shall be closed as of 5:00PM today, March 13 for a period of 14 days. Here too, no one will be allowed to enter the building. All library events, activities, meetings and gatherings of any nature shall likewise be postponed during this period. Please expect additional information and further notices from our library director.
4) The Department of public Works office and recycling center will also close to the public as of 5:00PM today, March 13 for a period of 14 days. Curbside pickup for garbage, recycling and garden debris will still be utilized as normal operations.
Until further notice Cresskill Borough Hall will remain open; however, we encourage everyone to conduct business remotely to the extent possible. You may anticipate notices concerning this buildings operation in the near future.
The idea here is to stem the spread of this virus. There is no need to panic, remain calm. These efforts are designed to slow down and even prevent the virus from spreading. As a reminder, these measures are not the result of a case(s) in Cresskill, but rather to protect your safety and to prevent community spread.
We cannot stress enough to the parents and guardians of Cresskill, DO NOT allow your children to have any social interactions with their friends during this 14-day period. Cancel play dates, sleepovers, birthday parties or hangouts. Failure to follow these guidelines will only put you and your children at risk. This method of social separation is proven to stop COVID-19 Virus.
The Borough of Cresskill COVID-19 Task Force will continue to meet daily to review all developments and take the appropriate measures to keep you safe.
