Borough of Westwood - Coronavirus Update 03/13/2020
March 13, 2020
Dear Westwood Residents,
The Borough of Westwood has been actively monitoring the evolving situation surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and has been in constant communication with our Borough Health Officials, OEM Coordinator, First Responders, and other officials throughout the County and State level. In our efforts to protect the community from the further spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Borough will be taking the following steps:
· Effective 3pm today, March 13th, the Westwood Community Center is closed until further notice. This includes all programming, sporting events, private events as well as the pre-school.
· All Borough fields will be closed to organized sports teams and trainers until further notice. We ask that any non-organized group activities be limited to 10 people or less.
· The Westwood Senior Van services are suspended until further notice.
· The Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 4th has been postponed.
· Effective 3pm today, March 13th - The Westwood Free Public Library is closed until further notice. For library updates, please visit their website at - www.westwoodpubliclibrary.org
· All Borough Parks and playgrounds will remain OPEN. However, the restrooms at Westvale Park will be closed until further notice.
· The dog park at Westvale Park is closed until further notice.
· While Borough Hall remains open, we ask that members of the public try to contact Borough officials via phone or e-mail before coming in to limit potential exposure.
For more specific information regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) visit the CDC website at www.cdc.gov or call the CDC hotline – 1-800-232-4636. Links for more information can also be found on our website www.westwoodnj.gov.
We will continue to put updates out as needed on social media channels and our website – www.westwoodnj.gov, but please ensure you are signed up for our emergency reverse 911 system and our email alerts. Both of these can be found on our website.
Lastly, we do not take these measures lightly. They are in line with the state and county's actions, taken this week. They are intended to minimize COVID - 19's intrusion into our community and mitigate its spread.
We do so with an over-abundance of caution and concern for our residents and Borough employees.
We ask for your understanding, patience and cooperation; as we work together through this difficult time.
Be confident that these troubles will pass. Be kind to each other. Be grateful for our splendid volunteers and first responders.
That’s just business as usual for Westwood residents.
Many thanks,
Mayor Ray Arroyo
