A Message From San Leandro Police Chief Tudor Regarding Our Services During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The San Leandro Police Department has always been and will continue to be committed to keeping San Leandro safe.  With that being said, we are in unprecedented times not only as a community, but as a world.  We want to do our part in reducing the spread of COVID-19, so you may see a temporary change in service from us.  If the situation warrants it, instead of responding to your home, we may ask you to fill out a police report on-line or speak with an officer over the phone.  You may also notice us practicing “social distancing” by holding less community events.

Although this change in service may be inconvenient, our hope is that it is limited in duration. It is our duty to keep you safe as much as we possibly can.  In order for us to do that, we need a healthy work force and we’ve instructed our employees to stay home if they are sick.  We want to reduce the risk of our staff unknowingly passing the virus onto others.

This temporary change in service is in no way intended to compromise public safety.  Public safety is a top priority for us and if the situation warrants it, we will respond!

Let’s all do our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and follow the recommendations put out by the public health professionals.
