Message from Sheriff Chris Malphrus: We have just finished meeting as a Command Staff regarding what is our best way to serve our citizens during this difficult time of panic and stress. Sheriff Malphrus will be meeting with other County Leaders tomorrow to shape our partnered response plan as your Sheriff's Office. Effective immediately, the assigned School Resource Officers will be reassigned as a team to engage with the students who will be out of school for several weeks. We will utilize our civilian staff to engage with our Senior Citizens who are considered to be vulnerable to the COVID-19 Virus. We will be making scheduled calls throughout the days to check in or attempt to provide resources that they may need. We will dispatch deputies to anyone who may be in need of being checked on or referred to a medical screening facility. We will be holding a department wide training session for our staff instructing them on how to deal with exposure and decontamination when needed. These days are different for all of us and while it is unchartered territory, we remain prepared and vigilant to ensure your safety and quality of life. We will work together with all of our partners and agencies to bring the best possible resources to you. We do not have any special access to supplies, groceries or medical equipment to give out at this time.
