County Restrictions

Today, Los Angeles County issued new orders to take effect immediately through March 31, 2020. A summary of these orders are as follows:

  • Prohibition of all indoor or outdoor public and private events with 50 or more people;
  • For events not prohibited, implementation of social distancing procedures, handwashing facilities, and warning signage;
  • Direction for restaurants/food facilities to limit their services to only offering delivery, pick up, or drive-through; and
  • The closure of: 1) all bars and nightclubs that do not serve food, 2) gyms and fitness centers, and 3) movie theaters, live performance theaters, and arcades.

The City of San Marino has already begun working with all of our local businesses to ensure compliance and to offer support during this difficult period of uncertainty. We encourage residents to continue supporting our businesses responsibly, and will be providing more resources on how to best do that.

City Facility and Programming Changes

In light of these continued developments, and in an effort to limit the transmission of Coronavirus (COVID-19) within our City, the City of San Marino is expanding on its previous announcement of cancellations and closures to now include the complete closure of Crowell Public Library and Recreation (Stoneman), including preschool. These new closures will be effective starting tomorrow – Tuesday, March 17, 2020 – and will remain in effect through March 31, 2020. Business may still be conducted by the public via phone or email. Currently, Lacy Park remains open for general use, but we are actively monitoring the situation and assessing the need for future closures.

Additionally, City Hall will be limiting public access to appointment-only for essential services only or emergency situations related to the Police and/or Fire Departments. Regular business may still be conducted by the public via phone or email whenever possible.
