Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Covid-19 Resources Update
During these unprecedented times, one of the most significant challenges communities face is uncertainty. To minimize confusion and connect those in need with available resources, we are sharing the list below. If you need assistance with acquiring food, securing internet access, or are wondering how to volunteer your service, give money or donate food, we hope this list will provide direction.
If You Need Help
For a medical or crime related emergency call 9-1-1. For help with social service needs contact 2-1-1. The 2-1-1 line is a 24/7 hotline that can connect you to social services and resources throughout Washtenaw County.
If You Want to Know More About the Virus

If You Need Food

If You Need Food and You Have School Aged Children
There are several school districts and youth serving organizations working together to ensure that our community is provided support and resources during this current pandemic. For a full list of school district food distribution sites visit Washtenawisd.org/covid-19.
If You Need Internet Access
With school canceled many families will need internet access for students to maintain their coursework. A list of free/low cost options is available here.

If You Want to Give
Visit uwgive.org to donate to the Community COVID-19 Relief Fund. 100% of your gift will be used in our community to meet the emerging and critical needs in Washtenaw county by our non-profit partners.
If You Want to Volunteer
Visit volunteerwashtenaw.org. Help is needed in the community and there is a special Washtenaw County Coronavirus Volunteer response team – Medical and Non-medical people are needed.
If You Want to Give to Food Specific Resources in Our Community
Donate funds, food, or your time to Food Gatherers.

- Volunteer: Food Gatherers relies on volunteers to support our operations. For the safety of staff and volunteers, we are implementing additional food safety and sanitary measures in our warehouse and Community Kitchen. Learn more: www.foodgatherers.org/volunteer.
What about pets?
The Humane Society of Huron Valley wants you to remember, there is currently no evidence that our companion animals can contract or transmit COVID-19
. The best place for pets is home with you. Please include your pets in your emergency preparedness plan--most notably, a two-week supply of pet food/supplies, crates and leashes, identification in the form of tags and updated microchips, and friends and family identified who can take care of your animals should you become sick or hospitalized.
HSHV asks that the public help by:
- We ask that only serious adopters visit HSHV and Tiny Lions. HSHV has systems in place to manage visits in the interest of public health.
- We are limiting veterinary clinic services to essential and critical care.
- We ask those who need to surrender their pets to HSHV to be mindful of their level of need right now.
- We know many are suffering and may need extra help taking care of their animals. HSHV has a free pet food pantry, Bountiful Bowls, ph. 734-661-3552. If you can’t leave your home and cannot afford to purchase food online, please contact [email protected].
- We also have a temporary Harbor program for pets whose owners are hospitalized and are without other resources, ph. 734-662-5585.
- If you believe an animal has been abandoned, please call HSHV's Animal Cruelty and Emergency Rescue hotline at 734-661-3512.
