DO NOT flush paper towels, baby wipes or anything else except for toilet paper down the toilet.
The city plumbing and sewage systems are not designed for paper towels, baby wipes, feminine hygiene products, socks, cut up rags newspaper, coffee filters, latex gloves, nitrile gloves, rubber gloves, fabric gloves or anything that is not toilet paper. Some flushable wipes do not breakdown as fast as are claimed by the manufacturer and will create clogs and other issues if used in excess.
In this time of crisis, the last thing we need is to be stuck at home with a backed-up sewer line due to flushing stuff down the toilet that should not be. The city has already dealt with several issues today due to foreign materials being flushed down the lines.
We understand there is a toilet paper shortage. We are impacted by this shortage as well. If you must resort to using paper towels, napkins or anything else as a substitute for toilet paper, throw it in the trash and put it out with the trash. DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING BUT TOILET PAPER DOWN THE TOILET.
