Information Related to COVID-19 and Sheriff’s Office Services

For precautionary measures and following recommendations made by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the following is an update from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Facility:
front lobby will be closed starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 8:00 A.M. The Corrections Facility’s vestibule area will remain open for bond posting and anyone wishing to add money to an inmate/detainees commissary accounts on the commissary kiosk. Lawyer’s wishing to visit their clients, are encouraged to call 24 hours in advance to (815) 334-4745, to schedule visitations. Video visitation is available online at http://www.mchenrysheriff.org/correct…/video-visitation.aspx and more information will be forthcoming on video visitation procedures during this time period.

The McHenry County Correctional Facility does not have a current COVID-19 case, the front lobby closure is a precautionary measure to keep the inmates/detainees, all families and staff safe. This current plan is in effect for 30 days.

McHenry County Judicial Center:
Effective immediately, the Judicial Center procedures will be the following: only personnel with court related business will be allowed into the Courthouse. Keys, a wallet, court papers, and your ID will be the only items allowed in during this time. Medical mask will be permitted to be worn inside the building, however no other form of masks (bandannas, etc.) are permitted until further notice. Notices are being sent out through the mail via Court Administration and Circuit Clerk of court cases that are being continued. You can also check court case statuses at www.mchnerycircuitclerk.org

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Records and Civil Process:
The Records and Civil Process Divisions will operate through the glass reception window to assist with any public inquires.

As we all respond and are proactive in our response to the COVID-19, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office will continue to ensure the safety of the community and our employees as this event evolves. We will continue to communicate additional information as it develops.
