County Shelter-in-Place Information

Yesterday, the County issued a Shelter-in-Place Order for our community related to COVD-19. This is certainly new territory and it’s important for all of us to have access to accurate and timely information. At this point, the County Health Department is the leader within our County regarding this incident. I recommend that everyone visit that website, it has a lot of information regarding what we should all be doing:(https://www.contracosta.ca.gov/…/...Stay-at-Home-Except-for-Es…).

Locally, we are coordinating with all of our local service providers and retailers to make sure that everyone is able to get the things that they need. Yesterday, the Superintendent of the Elementary School District provided some guidance related to school breakfasts and lunches for our students. If you have a student that is enrolled in those programs, please check the District’s website. Our local grocery stores are also doing their part to meet the needs of our residents. The supply chain for our local stores has not been interrupted, it is just hard to keep up and get the merchandise onto the shelves. Expect that some of the stores may need to close sometimes for short periods to re-stock.

Most of our local restaurants are still open for take-out and delivery. Your favorite comfort food is still available! Give them a call, they’ll have it ready for you to pick it up. It’s OK to get in the car and go get it to bring it home to eat. If you’re a little older, it may be a good time to have the kids pick it up for you.

This is the time that we need to make sure that we use social media and the telephone to check on our loved ones and make sure they are okay. Visiting our older family members is not the best idea, but don’t let that stop a phone call, an email, or social post. Everyone is not going to handle these changes the same as we may. A good time to make sure they are okay and they know you care. If you need some advice or some information, please dial 211. The County's 211 help line is there to get you pointed in the right direction. Please only use 911 if you have an emergency.

Please encourage all of your friends and neighbors to register for our Nixle Alerting System at www.nixle.com. Enter our zip code to get alerts from the Police Department. We will use this to make sure we get you the information you need to better navigate this emergency.

Thank you, Eric Christensen
