During these unprecedented times, people, businesses and governments throughout the world are modifying their operations as the Coronavirus, (COVID-19) has spread around the globe.
 
Pennsylvania, Governor Tom Wolf has recommended the shutdown of nonessential businesses and other activities to the entire Commonwealth as it continues to wrestle with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
 
The Palmer Township Police Department, like law enforcement agencies nationwide, have planned for this situation and have been taking proactive measures. The Palmer Township Police Department has been issuing directives to the members of the department modifying certain operations to protect both the workforce and the public.
 
Effective this date, March 17, 2020 the following modifications to police operations will go into effect to enact more proactive measures to slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), when possible.
 

1. For Non-Emergency calls for assistance that do not require an immediate police response, an officer will call you and then complete the report after gathering the necessary information.

 

2. If the non-emergency call does require an immediate police response, you may be requested to step outside if possible. If you are unable or not willing to step outside for any reason the Officer will handle accordingly.

 

3. Additionally, Non-Emergency Reports may be filed on-line through the Palmer Township Police Department CRIMEWATCH page, located at www.palmerpd.org.

 

4. All Emergency calls will be handled as always, with a police response.

 
These modifications are taken out of an abundance of caution to ensure we are taking appropriate steps to reduce unnecessary risks of exposure to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) for members of the Palmer Township Police Department and members of our Community.
 
The public should be rest assured that we are continuing to function as a Law Enforcement Agency should under the unusual circumstances we are all facing.
