POLICE TO USE PHONES WHEN POSSIBLE ON NON EMERGENCY CALLS
HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – March 18, 2020 - The Hollister Police department will take steps to reduce the amount of exposure police officers have with the public in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Hollister Police Department is working with our local partners in the county, state and federal agencies and we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely.
In order to limit the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus and in light of the recent shelter in place order by the San Benito County Health and Human Services Agency, Hollister Police Officers will be handling all non-emergency calls via telephone whenever possible. Officers will also be practicing social distancing whenever possible by keeping 5-6 feet away from the public.
Residents are asked to use our online reporting system to report property crimes with no suspect information at https://hollister.ca.gov
Officers will follow standard protocols and procedures for all calls requiring an emergency response.
If you require police assistance and you are experiencing flu like symptoms such as respiratory distress, fever and coughing or if you have recently been out of the country, please advise the dispatcher so that the officers responding can take appropriate precautions.
The Hollister Police Department takes very seriously the health and welfare of our residents as well as our officers. Limiting the contact when possible reduces the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus and allows our officers to be ready to serve if an emergency arises that requires their response.
We want to thank our residents for your understanding and ask you to continue to call 911 for any emergency and to call 636-4331 for all non-emergency calls.
