A Message to the Middleton Community

Who could have predicted how much our lives would change within a week with the emergence of COVID-19 in our country, state, and in our very own backyard of Dane County. We went from being able to freely move and go about our normal daily activities to being confined and isolated in our homes for a good portion of the day and making critical sacrifices to safeguard our families, co-workers, and neighbors.

As we navigate a situation which most of us have never had to deal with before, I want to ensure you that the Middleton Police Department, and all local first responders, are still working hard every day to provide you and your families with the best possible service. We have changed some of our practices to do our part for social distancing but we are still responding and handling every call for service like we did prior to COVID-19.

If you are in need of police services you should still contact the Middleton Police Department by the use of our non-emergency number of (608)824-7300 or if it is an emergency by dialing 911. Instead of having personal contact with an officer you may receive a telephone call from the officer soliciting the necessary information by phone, or you may have an officer ask you to exit your residence to speak with them regarding a situation to create the recommended distance – again doing our part for social distancing.

I can ensure you that the Middleton Police Department will continue to provide the same high level of service which we have provided for years while practicing the recommendations of the CDC and other local public health officials. Middleton PD is doing our part to minimize the spread of this virus.

The Middleton Police Department lobby continues to be open and will be in the immediate future. Our Med Drop will continue to be open and you can continue to speak with our staff regarding an open records request or any other police matter by visiting our lobby. We highly encourage everyone to contact the Police Department by telephone; however, if you feel you would prefer to speak with a member of our staff in the lobby we are still open. To protect our staff we will communicate with everyone in our lobby from within the secure area of the Police Department.

The Middleton community has endured a lot over the past few years; historic flooding, an active shooter event and now COVID-19. I have no doubt that, as a community, we will get through this current situation as we did with our previous hardships and in the end we will come out even stronger. Continue to take care of your neighbors, support your local businesses, and please practice social distancing – this cannot be emphasized enough. We all have a part to play in making sure we do not share this virus with others so we can get back to our normal daily activities as soon as possible.

Take care, stay healthy, and stay safe.
