Advisory

Heavy rain storm expected Sun afternoon to Mon morning, Mar 22-23 in Malibu

The National Weather Service (NWS) expects a heavy rain storm in Central and Southern California to arrive in the Malibu area early Sunday afternoon, March 22, and continuing through the day into Monday morning. Early totals range between 2-3 inches with intensity rates of nearly 1/2 inch per hour.

This brings the potential for debris flow concerns, especially in the Woolsey Fire burn areas. Residents and motorists should be watchful for mud, rock, and debris slides on PCH, canyon roads, and local streets.

A second, weaker storm is expected to bring a chance of intermittent showers from Tuesday through Thursday, March 24-26. Most areas should see less than 0.25 inches of rain during this time, but motorists should be mindful of possible rocks and debris in the roads.

City maintenance crews will be monitoring City streets and canyon roads with heavy equipment staged throughout the city.
