Prairieland Disposal Refuse Collection Update
 
Prairieland Disposal will continue to serve the residents of McHenry on the regularly scheduled pick-up dates.  Large items such are Toilets, Mattresses, Couches, Recliners, and some bulky chairs will not be picked up as bulk items until further notice.
 
2020 SPRING E-WASTE COLLECTION
March 23 – March 27

Prairieland Disposal will remove e-waste at the curb on the resident’s regular refuse pick-up day beginning March 23, 2020 and ending March 27, 2020. Residents are limited to five (5) electronic items per pick-up. Out of those five (5) items, only one (1) may be a television or one (1) computer monitor. Beginning on January 1, 2012, the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act banned certain types of electronics from being disposed in Illinois landfills such as televisions, monitors, computers, laptops, electronic mice and many other common electronic items you may have in your home. A complete list of electronics that are banned from landfills is available online from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency website at www.epa.illinois.gov Click on the Citizen’s tab and then on Land Pollution and Waste Disposal in the drop-down list.
