Alert

For non-emergency police reports, please contact RTPD at 313-387-2551 before coming to the police station.

The Redford Township Police Department is adopting a few temporary policies to ensure the safety of our residents and our police officers during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) health crisis. These changes have been designed to assist officers in providing safe and uninterrupted police services to our community. One of the best ways to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus is to limit exposure to those who present with symptoms of the illness, as well as those who may be unknowing carriers through social distancing. In an effort to protect residents and staff by reducing the number of people who come into contact with each other in the police station lobby, we are introducing these new steps:

• For non-emergency police reports, please contact RTPD at 313-387-2551 to find out if your situation qualifies for a police report to be taken over the telephone. There are many factors that are taken into consideration when determining if an incident report can be taken by phone and the police officer or dispatcher who takes your phone call will guide you through this process.

• Non-emergency incidents with evidence available at the scene will have an officer dispatched to the location. The dispatcher or police officer answering your phone call will ask you to please watch for the officer’s arrival and to meet them outdoors, if possible.

• All gun registration forms should be mailed to: Redford Township Police Department, Records Bureau, 25833 Elsinore, Redford MI 48239

• Copies of accident reports can be obtained online at www.clemis.org, utilizing the case number provided at the time of the accident. Other police reports may be available digitally and citizens should contact the Records Bureau at 313-387-2531 with inquiries. The Records Bureau and Traffic Bureau will be closed to the public at this time.

The safety of citizens and officers are our primary concern. Officers will continue to respond to emergency situations as usual. Our officers will be actively patrolling neighborhoods and businesses. It is essential for everyone to take these precautions so that we may continue to keep our officers healthy and prepared to provide Redford Township with ongoing police services.
