...MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED THROUGH TONIGHT... .Widespread rainfall, heavy at times, will move through the area ahead of the cold front this afternoon and evening. With wet conditions from rainfall over the previous day already in place, flash flooding could develop with any thunderstorms or embedded areas of higher rainfall rates. The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast Georgia and western North Carolina, including the following areas, in northeast Georgia, Habersham and Rabun. In western North Carolina, Graham, Macon, and Swain.

* from 2 PM EDT this afternoon through Wednesday morning

* Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall are expected to move through the area this afternoon ahead of a cold front. Additional rainfall of 2-3" is expected, with the watch area having received up to 2" in the last 24 hours.

* Rapid rises above bankfull on streams and creeks may occur, along with the threat of flooded roadways in embedded thunderstorms or pockets of higher rainfall rates.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HABERSHAM ... GRAHAM ... MACON ... SWAIN ... RABUN
