Detectives Find Attempt Murder Suspect with Help of the Public
Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives were able to use a tip submitted through LA CrimeStoppers to track down an attempt murder suspect wanted in connection with an incident that happened in Stevenson Ranch on Saturday.
On Sunday, March 22, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station put out a public bulletin for assistance in finding Jeremy Hernandez, 19. Detectives say Hernandez was identified as being involved in a robbery on Saturday. Deputies responded to a call at a Stevenson Ranch residence for a report of a woman who was robbed at gunpoint in her driveway. During the commission of the robbery, the suspect fired a shot, striking the victim. The victim’s injury was non-life threatening. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
Through their investigation, detectives from Santa Clarita Valley Station and Lancaster Station were able to identify the suspect and put out a call for public tips to find Hernandez. Detectives say it was a tip submitted to the “LA CrimeStoppers tip line” that helped them apprehend Hernandez on Monday evening in Lancaster, and safely bring him into custody. Hernandez was booked into the Lancaster Sheriff's Station where he is being held on $1 million dollar bail.
