Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of March 1-7, 2020

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of March 1 - 7, 2020:        
 
March 1, 2020

  • Grand Theft:
A grand theft was reported in the 1800 block of Mountain Avenue. Sometime between February 1 – March 1, unknown persons entered the backyard of the residence and stole miscellaneous tools from the patio area. The loss was estimated at appromitaly $1,270.        
 
March 2, 2020
  • Grand Theft:
A grand theft was reported at CVS located at 2315 Huntington Drive. At approximately 10:20 am, an unknown male White adult and male Black entered the store and grabbed three boxes (each box containing 12 bottles) of Jameson liquor. The males ran out of the store and entered a grey Infiniti. The vehicle was last seen westbound on Huntington Drive and out of view. The loss was estimated at $1,151. 
 
  • Petty Theft:
A petty theft was reported at Target located at 1050 Huntington Drive. At approximately 1:00 pm, a female Hispanic adult entered the store and was observed by store security selecting several miscellaneous items. The female approached the self-checkout lane and only scanned some of her items that she selected. She walked passed all opened and manned registers making no attempt to pay for the rest of the items. She was detained by Loss Prevention Agents as she exited the store. The female was arrested for petty theft.
 
  • Petty Theft:
A petty theft was reported at Target located at 1050 Huntington Drive. At approximately 11:15 am, an adult male and female were observed by security entering the store with backpacks and walking to the Technical Department. Both suspects selected numerous video games and placed them in their backpacks. They then were observed on video walking to the grocery aisle where they removed the packaging from the games, then exited the store without paying for the items. The suspects were seen leaving the parking lot in a red two door sedan. The loss was estimated at approximately $1,051.

March 4, 2020
  • Residential Burglary:
At approximately 3:45 pm, deputies responded to the 800 block of Random Lane regarding a domestic violence call. The call stated glass was breaking and a female was screaming for help. Deputies arrived and found the victim inside the location. The victim stated the suspect (ex-boyfriend) had already fled the location. The victim stated he was angry and upset because she did not return any of his phone calls. He broke several windows and took personal property belonging to the victim. The victim also had a restraining order against the suspect. It was determined that she was not the victim of domestic violence. The loss of the personal property was estimated to be $50 and the damage to the windows was estimated at $500. 
 
March 5, 2020
 
  • Vehicle Burglary:
A vehicle burglary was reported in the 2600 block of Starcrest Drive.  Sometime between 12:30 am and 7:00 am, unknown persons shattered the front passenger window and stole a purse from the passenger floorboard. The purse contained the victim’s driver’s license and miscellaneous credit cards.
 
  • Petty Theft:
A vehicle petty theft was reported in the 200 block of Mel Canyon Road. The theft occurred between February 28 - March 1. The victim left her vehicle parked and locked in her driveway and left for a two day trip. While the victim was gone, her cousin moved her vehicle to the street and did not lock the vehicle. The victim’s backpack containing a laptop computer and her wallet that was in the glove box were both taken. The wallet contained her driver’s license. There was no evidence of forced entry.The estimated loss was $295.
