COVID-19 Update

As of this morning, Contra Costa Health Services is reporting 86 people within the County have tested positive for the Corona Virus.  That’s an increase in the numbers from yesterday and they expect that number to continue to rise in the coming days. Thank you for following the guidelines of the Health Department’s Shelter at Home Order.  By staying at home, we reduce the risk of all of us being infected with this virus.

If you feel ill, you should call your health care provider before going into the office.   That way they can guide you on what their specific protocol is for providing care.

County Health Services has established a help-line for anyone who has questions about the COVID-19 Virus or what they should do.  There are staff members to help from 8 am to 5 pm every day (including weekends).  The phone number for that service is  1-844-729-8410.  Another good resource is the Contra Costa Crisis Center, they can be reached at 211.

There are things that we can all do to stop the spread of the virus in our community.
  - Hand washing is critical to making sure you did not pick something up on your hands. Wash your hands for 20 seconds or more.
  -  Social Distancing is also very important. Do your best to keep at least six feet of distance between everyone.
  -  Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, then wash your hands before you touch something else.
  -  Clean surfaces frequently.  Door knobs are touched by everyone and can be one of the best transmitters of disease.
  -  If you are sick, stay home.

The members of the Oakley Police Department and the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District are also taking precautions to avoid exposure to this virus.  The precautions may include wearing masks, gloves, and gowns or increasing the distance they come in contact with others.  It’s all being done to make us all a little safer.

Thank you for supporting our first responders and doing your part in keeping this virus at bay in our community.
