Declaration of Disaster Emergency
 
At approximately 5 p.m. on March 25, 2020, Mayor Jamie Hampton made the executive decision to join the City of Mt. Vernon to the Declaration of Disaster Emergency drafted by the Linn County Emergency Management Commission and executed by the Linn County Board of Supervisors.  At this time, there have been no identified positive cases of Covid-19 in the City of Mt. Vernon, however, positive cases have been established in Linn and Johnson Counties.  This declaration activates the disaster response and recovery aspects of the Linn County Comprehensive Emergency Plan and those additional response plans applicable to this disaster emergency and authorizes the use and deployment of all available municipal and county resources, supplies, equipment, and materials as are reasonably necessary to assist in the preparedness, response recovery, and mitigation of this disaster.  A copy of the fully executed Disaster Declaration can be found on the City of Mt. Vernon’s website at www.cityofmtvernon-ia.gov.
