New Health Officer Order issued - Febrile Respiratory Illness

***NOTE*** Mariposa still has ZERO confirmed cases of COVID-19, this order is in place to insure that all employers are screening their employees that are continuing to work in essential businesses.



Mariposa County Health Officer Eric Sergienko issued an Order regarding “Febrile Respiratory Illness” effective 3/25/2020.
 
“Febrile respiratory illness” is defined as “a new or worsening episode of either cough or shortness of breath, presenting with fever (temperature 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or 38 degrees Celsius or higher) or chills in the previous 24 hours.”
 
What does this mean for all Residents of Mariposa County?
All Mariposa County Residents should be on the lookout for symptoms of COVID-19 in themselves. If any resident has COVID-19 symptoms they should isolate themselves for seven days after the start of symptoms, unless you should require further medical attention. “Isolation” is defined as “separation of sick people with a contagious disease from people who are not sick.”
 
What does this mean for employers in Mariposa County?
This order requires all Employers, while conducting business, to screen all employees for febrile respiratory illness on a daily basis. If employees report symptoms of febrile respiratory illness, they will be directed to isolate at home and will not be allowed to work for seven days. At this time, screening will be a simple questionnaire that will help identify COVID-19 symptoms. A sample screening is attached for employers.
 
As a reminder these are the symptoms of COVID-19:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of Breath
This order requires Health Care Providers, to report to the Public Health Department all patients seen in the practice with febrile respiratory illness on a daily basis.
