Porch Pirate Arrested 
Between February 12, 2020, and March 13, 2020, South Los Angeles Station received several reports of package thefts in the Del Aire and Wiseburn area.
The victims were able to provide photographs and videos, using surveillance cameras and the Ring, of the suspect stealing the packages.
Our Detectives quickly sprung into action, and identified the suspect and the vehicle used in the crimes.
On March 19, 2020, the suspect was arrested. Our Detectives obtained search warrants of the suspect’s residences, and numerous stolen items were recovered.
The suspect (Roy Ruiz – Booking #5903724) was arrested for Grand Theft.
A friendly reminder on how to prevent package thefts:
- Have packages delivered to your workplace/office
- Use Smart Package lockers or convenience store
- Require signature on delivery
- Reroute or reschedule delivery if not home
- Install security cameras
