Custer County Sheriff’s Office Response to Governor's Shelter in Place
Mar. 27, 2020
On behalf of the Custer Co. Sheriff’s Office, I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for working to help to stem the spread of this virus.
I recognize that with everyone pulling together, we can, and will see this through.
We all have a role is stopping the virus.
We know that mitigation is working, both statewide and within our county.
My office stands ready to help in any way that we are able and I hope that every one will agree that this is not just about our individual safety, but the safety of everyone around us, as well.
Please heed the precautions, and directives that have been issued.
It will take each of us, acting a responsible manner, to be part of the solution and get our lives back to normal.
Please stay safe
Tony Harbaugh, Sheriff

Miles City Police Department's Response to the Governor's Shelter in Place
The community has been very good under the circumstances we are facing right now. The Miles City Police Department does not expect many issues with the public. We understand the stress and concern created by these restrictions. The Miles City Police Department is available to help and assist our fellow community members. The last thing we want to do is have to cite someone for failing to follow the Governor's directive. People's businesses and livelihoods are at stake with these orders.
We will continue to serve and protect the public during these extremely difficult times. Due to safety concerns for our officers and the public, the Miles City Police Department will not respond in person to minor calls for service. Officers will handle minor calls for service over the phone as much as possible. We will respond in person to active felony calls in progress and accidents with major damage and/or injuries. For animal calls, officers will respond in person to a vicious dog call in progress, an animal destroying property and animal on animal attack. We will also respond when an animal's welfare is in question, such as a dog running in and out of traffic. We ask that a community effort be made to keep close track of your animals so as not to warrant officer response resulting in further exposure of our first responders.
We ask the members of the community, if you do not feel well, please stay home. We will do the same for our officers. If an officer or dispatcher is not feeling well, they will not come to work and risk the health of the other officers or public. We will continue to work together through this and stay as positive as we can.
