Post office procedure changes 3/28.
By order of the City Manager, City Hall will now no longer be opened to the public until reviewed no later than April 11, 2020. This extends and implements further, the order by the City Council, effective March 17, 2020.
In order to maintain social distancing as much as possible the Contract Post Office, operated by the City will be implementing new procedures effective 3/28.
For all interactions with the Post Office, during normal business hours, for mail pickup and drop off, please park in the parking lot and call the Post Office @ 592-8111. You will be informed of your "place in line". When it is your turn you will be permitted to approach the back entrance to pickup mail/packages.
If you wish to have someone else pickup your mail and/or packages, you must authorize the individual by informing the Post Office by calling 592-8111 or preferably by email at [email protected]. We will attempt to accomodate special requests but cannot guarantee that ability. The staff will work to communicating with all indivudals that have received new mail/packages if not picked up the day after the last plane arrival (our experience is this is a limited amount of people).
We recognize that this is an inconvinence and are attempting to balance mail delivery with public health. As such, no access to the PO Boxes will be permitted, however will be handled with the packages. Your assistance and understanding in the matter is deeply appreciated.
In a related note: The Post Office will be closed Monday, March 30 in observance of Seward's Day. Hours of operation will be extended Tuesday, March 31 by one hour (Noon-2pm).
