Advisory

March 30, 2020 Knowlton Township Coronavirus Update

There are currently 72 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Warren County, 6 of them persons who have recovered.  There are 2 cases in Knowlton Township. The County Health Department continues to trace the contacts of all positive cases.  If there are any persons who require isolation because of possible exposure, they will be notified directly by the Heath Department.

North Warren Regional (NWR) High School and Knowlton Elementary School (KTES) are now both in the process of using their 3D printers to make face shields for medical staff at area hospitals.  At NWR, the Robotics Team is collaborating with the lead engineer at a local manufacturer, Imperial Machine and Tool.  Imperial has donated an additional 10 printers to supplement those owned by the high school as well as materials and supplies. Knowlton resident and Robotics coach Don Biery is working with the students to get materials and plans distributed to have the first batch completed by Friday.  KTES teacher and Knowlton resident Kim Reber is heading a similar effort at the elementary school.  We owe a debt of gratitude to the outstanding contributions of these residents, to the administrations of our schools, and to this business.  They saw a need in our community and stepped up without hesitation.  Thank you.

A number of Knowlton residents have also answered the call to help. Thank you to the Taylor family, Mike Vanderhoof, Ted Jeremy, Marcia Bilyk, to Knowlton Elementary, and to all those who have scoured their extra supplies to help local first responders and medical staff.  Thanks to them, in one week Knowlton has donated more than 10,000 medical gloves and several dozen masks to St. Luke's and Atlantic Health.

The Blairstown Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has placed a shed in the parking lot of the Blairstown Municipal Building which will be used for canned food donations for food pantries located in Blairstown, Hope, and Knowlton. The demand for food by families who have found themselves suddenly without work remains great.  The hours of this drop off site will be 8:00 am - 8:00 pm, 7 days a week.
