The statewide burn ban is still in effect. You cannot burn brush/yard waste during this ban. No Burn Permits will be issued during this time.

Per the DNR - you can still cook food and roast marshmallows over a CONTAINED campfire. Also per the DNR, these contained fires MUST BE MONITORED meaning you must be present and not away from the contained fire. The fire must be fully extinguished when completed.

IF YOU LIVE INSIDE THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS:
- If you are currently on the list of approved recreational fire pits with the St. Louis Police Department, you may still have recreational cooking fires. Only campfire wood may be burned. NO CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS, BRUSH, LEAVES, ETC. ARE TO BE BURNED.
- Any person burning in an UNAUTHORIZED recreational fire pit will be cited.
- Any currently approved recreational fire pits used to burn brush, yard waste or other items not allowed will be cited and you will be removed from the approved list.
- During this time, the St. Louis Police Department WILL NOT be authorizing any new recreational fire pits as this is a NON-ESSENTIAL function.
